microResidency#41 Maria Francesca Tassi
“Senza Titolo”. Within The METARESIDENCY Project at The Blank Residency, Bergamo, Italy. Saturday 7th September 2013, 6 to 8pm (GMT+1)
The microResidency Senza Titolo by Italian artist Maria Francesca Tassi was one of five actions at The METARESIDENCY Project at The Blank Residency, Bergamo (Italy), where Miguel Guzmán was invited as artist in residency in September 2013. Artists worked not just at the artist’s studio but at different spaces of the house and courtyard.
Maria’s action involved loads of people and private documents: She invited all of us to come and bring paper with special content for us. It could be special for its emotional meaning, or just because of its everyday-life value.
Art magazines brought by Italian curator Paola Tognon, grocery lists and receipts, even the tenancy agreement of Espacio Islandia’s first space were glued to the ceiling of the residency hall, suspended falling through the window to the dwelling block courtyard. Blazing fast, the growing huge paper horsetail was finally rolled back, wrapped and glued.
Some months after the microResdiency, Maria sculpted the resultant object as a big wooden trunk made creating a (natural?) palimpsest of forgotten everyday memories that will hopefully be part of further exhibitions.
