Proposal sent by the artist:
Description: During two hours, with a budget of no more than 2 € I want to capture space and time and use the gallery as a canvas to carve the silhouettes of the people visiting (the event) I invite them to take an interactive role through becoming an immediate part of the final piece.
Use of 20 crowns: Graphite.
Relation with audience: Action-production-result-interactive-audience minded.
Recording: Full recording and Streaming needed.
The artist Pacoco Gil (Cádiz/Stockholm) presents his action Marks as a festive ending of the opening of the Love Triangle microResidencies project. Pacoco’s proposal transforms Candyland’s white cube space into a mini factory and improvised photo call. He invites the guests his implication in the microResidency through posing beside the gallery walls in order to get his silhouette traced in graphite. Each participant choses the position, isolated or overlapped with an existing silhouette. At each pose photographer Jose Figueroa portraits the guest whilst Pacoco marks the trace. Then Pacoco makes a continuous and sinuous drawing filling each silhouette, always leaving a closed and amorphous gap inside.
The spontaneous implication at this event made it flexible and agile. Afterwards and within the time frame of the microResidency, Pacoco started painting the walls in white, with a single and thin layer that created an effect of ephemeral and subtle veil allowing to glimpse the bodies that had traversed and shared the space during a few hours. Next day he completed the erasing task, leaving the gallery clean and white and giving back to it its neutral state for further actions.
