microResidency#48 Fernando M. Romero
“UN_FOLDING”: microResidency by Fernando M. Romero at Candyland Gallery, Stockholm. Love Triangle microResidencies. 27th October 2013. 5pm (GMT+1).
This microResidency was part of the project Love Triangle microResidencies, developed in collaboration with the Spanish Embassy in Sweeden and curated by Miguel Guzmán Pastor with Mattias Larsson and Pacoco Gil.
This action was developed at Candyland Gallery (Stockholm) in October the 27th 2013 as part of the Love Triangle MicroResidency Project. The edition was curated by Miguel Guzmán with Mattias Larsson and Pacoco Gil.
The Spanish artist Fernando M. Romero proposed to share this work in progress between wall painting, installation and photography, as a displacement of some key processes he uses to develop at his artist studio to Candyland space. Some of the relevant elements in his artwork were selected in order to transform them as site specific installation using the gallery walls: Simple spatial and linear elements on the white walls i.e. black tape, charcoal and spray paint distorted the flat perception of a wall to become a fictitious three dimensional sensation. Finally he took a series of photographs for which he used black confetti thrown by himself together with the audience into the air of the gallery. The aim was to get at least one original photographic work out of the action: the image was partially edited opened to audience and screened at the end. It also became part of a final debate gathering the different collaborators of this special edition that involved Spanish artists who work in Berlin and Swedish artists. The resultant digital file was sent to Espacio Islandia, the Spanish Embassy in Sweden and Candyland. This microResidency resulted very constructive as the artist needed to get quick solutions in public and make up new ways of evolving this series of artworks currently shown in different galleries of Spain.
