ROOM ART FAIR #5. Habitación 206, Hotel Petit Palace, Plaza Santa Bárbara 10, Madrid. 26, 27, 28 / 02 / 2016.
At this edition that will take place at room 206 in Hotel where ROOM AF#5 is developed, the bed is the center of the action. Each artist or collective invited to dialogue through a microResidency has proposed a situation to transform the space in interaction with audience, an action of two hours length adapted to specific context together with Miguel Guzmán Pastor.
Below the schedule with titles and texts sent by the participants:
Friday 26th, 12pm to 2pm: Rubén Rodrigo: HEIMLICH
As days pass by I have a clearer idea on what to do. I like the idea of working with daylight and shadow remembering that famous passage of Tanizaki’s book. I find interesting doing something rather more familiar through action, more intimate at such an impersonal and unknown space as it is a hotel room. Even the Camera obscura doesn’t work in this situation I would simply manipulate the natural light with the help of blind curtains so that we get a nice reflection effect. Therefore it is also more performative and action rather more sober as we use less resources. My aim is to make a tiny series of drawings i.e. 4 or 5, on the wall where light is reflected. It will be a delicate thing so fixing the drawings with a couple of nails will be enough. On the last stage I will use the table to stick the glue on the drawings. Whilst I work on the drawings in vertical lights will be off. I am not very sure on the audience issue. I will keep on thinking on it. It would be also convenient to use a thin plastic layer to protect both floor and wall from painting dripping.
Friday 26th, 5pm to 7pm: Ángela Segovia y Carlos Rod: compañía
Body is there, where a desire, that is hidden to be catch, shakes to be catch, shakes not to be catch.
Saturday 27th, 12pm to 2pm: Analía Beltrán i Janés: Juego de Sábanas
I don’t find a better place to do a performance than a bed. As Ana Matey would say when someone asks her to make a performance work walking: “it is my thing”. I already performed in Intermediae, Matadero, Madrid, a work called “A tapestry extended in all directions” about women and their relation with bed using women experiences -also some man at the end- in bed therefore transforming those experiences into written poems on bed sheet squares I then sewed making a new sheet and covered up myself inside. I currently wish to show my close relation with bed itself, both place of birth, sickness and death and also sex, fun, rest. I will revive some stages of my life in a kind of quick-change game. I will change my clothes under the bed sheets and as I will get out I will recall some special moments of my life. May be three or four times. I still need to go through the details but I already have some thoughts as letting a piece of textile fall down from the balcony and using shower or basin (please let me know if this is possible and windows may be opened). And of course getting into bed.
Saturday 27th, 4pm to 6pm: Marta Fernández Calvo: Tenemos que vernos.
During two hours previous to sunset, the artist will welcome some friends who live in the same city she lives and she doesn’t find time to meet at least for one year already. We will just film the setting changes that will be conditioned by the arrival of consecutive friend and crepuscular light.

Sunday 28th, 4pm to 6pm: Jaime Vallaure: El Descanso.
Artist suggests to share a Sunday afternoon resting collectively in a room at a centric hotel in Madrid. It is about sharing a moment where nothing is expected to happen
Needs: As number of guests is limited to space dimensions I propose to establish 4 turns
1st: 4pm to 4:30pm / 2nd: 4:30pm to 5pm / 3rd: 5pm to 5:30pm / 4th: 5:30pm to 6pm
Every half an hour a turn ends and next starts. In case there is not enough guests in the room turns may last longer. The aim is to stay comfortably in darkness the time needed.
