“Referring to philosopher Slavoj Zizek’s recent advice “In the 20th century we maybe tried to change the world too quickly. The time is to interpret it again, to start thinking… We should be very careful what we do”; establishing a parallelism with Jafar Panahi’s recent work “This is not a film”, we invite you to participate in the project explaining your microResidencies: we will make without making. We will film the explanations in order to create the film “This is not a microResidency”. During the 2 hours of private work, we will decide how to use the 2 euros. The film will be edited by Miguel Guzman and shown on the last day of The metaResidency Project, Tuesday the 10th of September at The Blank.”

Proposals (not made but told to the camera):

Francesca Santambrogio, Reunion

“The Blank Residency is a temporary home, where the private is shared by the various guests who have lived there, who live and who are going to live. Each tenant leaves a trace and the objects they keep it. Some products are purchased, used, consumed and finally abandoned, becoming unwitting legacy for the next host. In the pantry there are bottles of oil, pasta or jars of coffee never finished. On the edges of the bath there are soap and shampoo in half. On the glasses are printed kisses that the detergent has washed away. I would like, as tenant of the apartment for two hours, to connect the missed and suspended meetings that objects retain. I will research and collect these elements, in order to combine them into micro- reactions able to proceed independently and finally to run out. With my work I want to build simple devices (the tap dripping on the detergent, filling the sink with foam, the chair that swings because one leg rests on a frozen food that melts… ) which make alive the room, regardless the presence of people inside. I wish the objects would create dynamics, live, maybe fall, provephysical law and produce smells and sounds. I like to imagine that they will move just like people of that apartment, like roommates who find themselves. And then you say hello.  The place where I suppose to intervene is the kitchen, because of the appliances and furnishings allow you to create many possible situations. And then the best discussions take place in the kitchen.

Use of the 2 euros fund: It depends on what I find in the apartment and what I think is missing. It could be a popsicle or a packet of popcorn.”

Senza Titolo, Arjan Shehaj

“My artworks can be watched from different angles, just to give an expression of continuity and infinity, always doing these operations I avoid to limit the imagination and observation of the fruitors. In my paintings I don’t want to determine the concepts, in order to imprison ideas, I don’t want to limit the thinking, but on the contrary I want to open all the possibilities to observe the works but also the world , giving different meanings, see the world in different angles.

Use of the 2 euros fund: to be defined.”

“The work consists in freezing metaphorically and physically the value, both ideal and real, of the coin inside a block of ice. Then place the block of ice in a medium-sized toy inflatable dinghy and let it melt slowly leaving emerge the coin and its value . The idea behind this setup is to recreate a process of meta- freedom, inspired by the numerous arrivals of illegal immigrants to our shores: the boat symbolizes the medium that sets in motion this project, bringing people physically from one place to another, the coin into the ice instead symbolizes the ideal, the metaphorical point of arrival that is unattainable at the time.

Use of the 2 euros fund: The two euros will be used to be frozen in a block of ice and then donated.”
